Canva AI review
This Canva AI review is built from Canva's own help pages. The structure people miss: image generation, AI video and AI photo editing all draw from one shared monthly allowance, and every one of them is a Premium-tier tool — so the Free plan's real ceiling for AI generation is about 20 uses a month, not 200.

Where Canva wins
- The output lands in a design, not a download. Generated images and clips arrive inside a full editor with templates, brand kit, print and scheduling attached.
- The free tier is genuinely usable: 20 Premium generations a month, plus Magic Video and Canva AI text tools that sit outside the allowance entirely.
- Commercial position is published clearly, with Canva Shield on top and AI-output indemnity on Enterprise — stronger legal cover than most standalone generators offer.
- Magic Video, the template-based tool, is included on every plan including free, and handles 4K source content.
Where FlowPix wins
- Clip length is not fixed. Canva's generated clips are 4 seconds on Magic Media, 5 on Image to Video, and 6 or 8 on Canva AI Video clip depending on audio; FlowPix generates 1-10 seconds on any of sixteen models.
- A credit is a fixed unit. Canva states there is no fixed credit unit and that uses vary by tool and prompt complexity, with published ranges assuming a single tool type and simple prompts.
- Image, video and editing do not compete for the same allowance — the credit pool is one number, but nothing auto-escalates a video job to a scarcer tier the way Canva switches video off Standard.
- Prompts are not English-only, which Canva states its Video clip tool is.
The verdict
If your AI output is going into a Canva design anyway, generate it in Canva — the round trip costs you more than the allowance does. Two things push people out: every generated clip is a fixed 4, 5, 6 or 8 seconds, and image, video and editing all compete for one Premium pool that is 20 uses a month on Free and 200 on Pro. If you are generating at volume, or need a clip that is not one of four lengths, that is when a per-second model starts to matter.
Questions people actually ask
How many AI generations do you get on Canva Free?
Canva publishes up to 200 Standard or 20 Premium uses a month on Free, with no Ultra access. Because image generation, AI video and Image-to-Video are all Premium tools, roughly 20 a month is the practical ceiling for AI generation on the free plan — and they share one pool.
How long are Canva AI generated videos?
It depends on the tool, and each is fixed. Magic Media generates 4-second clips. Image to Video generates 5 seconds with no audio. Canva AI Video clip generates 8 seconds with audio or 6 seconds without. Magic Video, the template-based tool, produces up to 60 seconds from clips you upload.
Can I sell work made with Canva AI?
Canva states you own your AI-created works and may use them for personal and commercial purposes under its AI Product Terms, while warning that outputs may not be unique to you and may not receive copyright protection in your jurisdiction. AI-output indemnity is an Enterprise feature.
